Glenn Jacobs made his first appearance in WWF as the doctor Isaac Yankem. He was private dentist for another wrestler named Jerry Lawler. His first match was against Bret Hart who was one of Lawler’s nemeses. The two played against each other on several occasions and during their SummerSlam match, he hung Hart by his neck. The gimmick took about a year until he decided to change into another when May 1996 came.

Diesel and Razor Ramon were among the wrestlers who made it huge at that time. In April of the same year, they moved to WWF’s competitor, which was the World Championship Wrestling. Because their tandem was a hit, the WWF decided to have two wrestlers portray those characters. Jacobs played Diesel’s part while another wrestler named Rick Bogner was introduced as Razor Ramon. The gimmick did not last that long but it went all the way through the Royal Rumble wherein Jacobs was the second to the last wrestler who was eliminated.

The next year, on October of 1997, he was now called Kane. The storyline here was that he was Paul Bearer’s son and the half brother of Undertaker. Kane appeared during Undertaker’s match against Shawn Michaels in the Hell in the Cell competition. He was the reason why Undertaker won in this first ever match. The following year, the half brothers fought over their relationship with each other.

He won his first game as Kane when he was up against Mankind during the Survivor series. He then randomly attacked wrestlers that include Road Warrior Hawk, Ahmed Johnson and even Dude Love. At first Undertaker did not want to fight with him because he claimed that he would never exchange blows with his own flesh and blood. They became partners for quite some time but this ended when Kane cost Undertaker the championship belt when he betrayed him. When the match ended, he locked up the Undertaker in a casket, which he set afire. Later on, it was revealed that Undertaker managed to escape.

They continued to feud but in 2001, they became partners again for the team Brothers of Destruction. Kane was a masked figure in WWF at that time until the year 2002. He won numerous championship titles and defeated many powerful wrestlers. On June of 2003, he was forced to remove his mask when lost to Triple H in Raw. Kane then fell in love in 2004 with Lita whom he got pregnant. However, she wound up with Edge so Kane was broken hearted.
